About the Event

The Arctic region is rapidly becoming one of the most sought-after areas for shipping and development due to its vast reserves of natural resources, including oil, gas, and minerals. However, increased human activity in the Arctic has raised concerns about its potential impact on the fragile ecosystem and the indigenous communities that call the region home. As the world focuses on sustainability and reducing carbon emissions, the question of whether Arctic development and shipping can be done in a sustainable manner has become a pressing issue. This topic raises important questions about the balance between economic development and environmental conservation in the Arctic region.

Marine Science Programme Coordinator from Hong Kong Maritime Museum will share his view on how the increasing shipping activities may impact the Arctic Ecosystem.
