About the Competition

Eligibility and Divisions
-
Primary Division: Local full-time Primary 4 to Primary 6 students enrolled in the 2025-2026 academic year.

Secondary Division: Local full-time Secondary 1 to Secondary 6 students enrolled in the 2025-2026 academic year.
-
Adult Division: Hong Kong residents aged 18 years or above.

Submission Requirement
-
Participants are required to design an Art Container based on the theme “Hong Kong: Sailing to the World”, showcasing stories of Hong Kong’s shipping and maritime industry. Entries should demonstrate thematic relevance, creativity, and aesthetic appeal, while also considering practicality and suitability for display on an actual shipping container.

The medium (including digital drawing) and format of the submitted artwork are not restricted. Acceptable media include, but are not limited to, ink, sketching, painting, printmaking, comics, watercolour, coloured pencils, crayons and pastels.

The paper used for the entry must be no smaller than A3 in landscape format (297 mm H × 420 mm W). The artwork must be in a 1:2 landscape aspect ratio.

Each submission must be accompanied by an Artist Statement of no more than 50 words, provided in both Chinese and English, explaining the concept and message of the artwork. The description may include the source of inspiration drawn from the theme and the use of visual elements.



Rules

Participants must be Hong Kong residents.

Each participant must enter only one of the following divisions: Primary division, Secondary division, or adult division.

Each participant may submit only one artwork, which must be an original work that has not been previously published.

If a participant submits more than one entry, the organiser reserves the right to disqualify the participant.

All submitted artworks must be individually created. Group or collaborative works will not be accepted.
-
Only two-dimensional artworks will be accepted. Three-dimensional works are not accepted.
-
Late submissions or entries with incomplete information will not be accepted.

Awardees will be required to provide the original artwork for the production of the Art Container.

In the event of any violation of the competition rules, the organiser reserves the right to disqualify the participant.

Judgement
-
Panel of Adjudicators will comprise representatives from the HKMPDB, HKMM, OOCL, MTL, professional designers and other professionals.
-
The judging criteria will include originality, creativity, technique, artistic value, and the conveyance of positive messages. Submissions that effectively reflect the theme “Hong Kong: Sailing to the World” will be viewed favourably.

The decision of the Panel of Adjudicators shall be final. Participants shall have no right of appeal or objection regarding the competition results or awards.
