Marine Science Volunteer Opportunities

The Hong Kong Maritime Museum is seeking passionate volunteers to help inspire curiosity about marine science, ocean conservation, and sustainability. Whether you are a retired teacher, an educator, a student, or simply someone who loves learning, our Marine Science Volunteer Programme offers meaningful opportunities to engage the public, develop new skills, and join a vibrant community dedicated to connecting people with the sea.

Become a Marine Science Volunteer, you will: 

• Receive specialised training 

• Gain hands-on experience and develop science communication and museum education skills 

• Participate in exclusive learning and networking opportunities 

• Deepen your understanding of marine conservation and sustainable development 

Volunteer roles include: 

• Support school visits and educational programmes 

• Assist with family activities and public engagement programmes 

• Deliver guided tours and visitor engagement activities 

• Support outreach, learning materials development, and administrative tasks 
   

We seek individuals who are:​ 

• Interested in marine science, ecology, environment, conservation, and related topics 

• Able to commit regularly 

• Able to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds. Candidates with teaching or educational experience will be preferred 

• Aged 16 or above. Applicants under the age of 18 are required to obtain parental/guardian consent 

• Fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin or English
