ZHU Wenqi

PhD candidate in Art History at the University of Hong Kong

Zhu Wenqi is a PhD candidate in Art History at the University of Hong Kong. Her MPhil thesis, titled “A Tale of Two Books: Art and Commerce in William Alexander’s The Costume of China”, laid the foundation of her current paper. Her doctoral dissertation examines images of China in Western illustrated newspapers from 1842 to 1911. She has presented at the CAA, AHNCA Graduate Symposium, and the Ming-Qing Studies Conference at Academia Sinica. She is the recipient of the Andrew Wyld Research Support Grant, the Louis Cha Fund for Chinese Studies, and multiple Travel Grants from the HK Museum Society.
