Yu Shen is a third-year PhD candidate in Chinese art at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Art History from the University of Texas at Austin and a master’s degree in Visual Arts Administration from New York University. In 2023, she was awarded the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS). Her doctoral research, titled “The Transformation and Reception of Tulip and Carnation Motifs on Chinese Ceramics in the Context of Sino-Dutch Trade in the Seventeenth Century,” examines Chinese export porcelains within the broader framework of global trade. She is interested in Chinese ceramics, export art, and material culture in late imperial China.
