Wei Cong Huang Xie is a Master’s student in the Department of Cultural Heritage and Museology at Fudan University. His primary research interests focus on the material culture of ceramics in the Americas and the history of global trade from the 16th to the 18th centuries. He pays a long-standing academic attention on the circulation and social consumption of Chinese export porcelain in the Americas under the Manila Galleon trade. His current work employs an interdisciplinary approach, such as using integrating archival documents, visual materials, and archaeological evidence, to examine the social mobility and cultural adaptation of Asian commodities in colonial societies.
