Shi Liu is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Chinese History and Culture at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and a Fellow at the Hong Kong Palace Museum–PolyU Joint Chinese Textile Centre. She received her Ph.D. in Art History from the School of Humanities at the Central Academy of Fine Arts (Beijing) in June 2022. From 2020 to 2021, she was a visiting Ph.D. student at the Department of History, European University Institute (Florence, Italy). Prior to her current appointment, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the School of Art and Archaeology, Zhejiang University (Hangzhou), in 2025. Her research focuses on the history of Chinese textiles, textiles of the Mongol period, Qing export silks, medieval and Renaissance art, and Sino-Western material exchange.
