Helen Persson Swain is a Chinese textile specialist, with 25 years international curatorial experience, mainly with the V&A. Helen’s research centres on transnational fashion and material culture, primarily concerning Euro-Chinese cultural exchange. She has lectured internationally and published extensively on the subject, most recently “Chinese Textiles in Scandinavian Collections” in Orientations (2023). She is a board member of CIETA and Worthing Theatres & Museum. Currently, Helen is finalising her PhD on Chinese painted silks at University of Glasgow, and is Head of the department of Cultural History at Nordiska Museet, Stockholm.
