Assistant Curator of Hong Kong Palace Museum

Dr. Emily Gao is an Assistant Curator of Hong Kong Palace Museum (HKPM). She received her first degree from Zhejiang University, an MA from Fudan University, and a PhD from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). She is the lead curator of the exhibition Forbidden City and the World: Cultural Encounters and a curatorial member of the exhibitions A Movable Feast: The Culture of Food and Drink in China and Clay to Treasure: Ceramics from the Palace Museum Collection. Prior to her appointment at HKPM, Dr. Gao worked as a research assistant on the research project “Canton Enamels in the Qing Dynasty” at the Art Museum of CUHK. Her research interests include the history of Chinese ceramics and Chinese export art of the Qing dynasty.
