Wildlife Photographer Series – The Norway Whales
Time & Location
23 Apr 2023, 15:00 – 16:30
Blue Ocean Hall, 11 Man Kwong St, Central, Hong Kong
About the Event
The Northern Fjords of Norway are the sight of a seasonal super-feast where Orcas, Humpbacks and other whales predate on the billions of herring that come here for the winter. And for the first time Fin Whales, the second largest whale in the world, have started to hunt here as well.
The Hong Kong Maritime Museum has invited Simon Lorenz, a Hong Kong underwater photographer, to share his experience with these Norway Whales during the herring feast, and he will also talk about the unique aspects of whales and dolphins.
Photographer Introduction:
Mr Simon Lorenz is an award-winning underwater photographer, a regular author for dive magazines and a speaker at events. He has worked with CNN, BBC, NatGeo and supports various marine NGOs. Simon fights for the protection of sharks in his role on the advisory board of the Hong Kong Shark Foundation. Simon is also the founder of Insider Divers, a company that provides guided group trips to all exciting underwater destinations of the world. As a PADI instructor and photo coach, he aims to further the dive, marine and photography skills of his guests.
