About the Event

During the Battle of Hong Kong and under Japanese occupation (December 8, 1941, to August 30, 1945), Victoria Harbour became a battlefield. The battle not only sank a large number of vessels but also caused considerable damage to facilities on both shores. Focusing on Victoria Harbour during this period and drawing on recent spatial history research, this talk discusses the impact of the war on Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong’s maritime infrastructure.
