About the Event

Did you know that wild otters still live in Hong Kong? Once upon a time, they freely roamed around Victoria Harbour and throughout Hong Kong! However, what is their current status in the City and the wider Pearl River Delta? 


In celebration of this year’s World Otter Day, the Hong Kong Maritime Museum is delighted to host the research team from Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden (KFBG), who will share little-known stories of otter conservation. For many years, KFBG has been dedicated itself to protecting otters in Hong Kong and South China. Their recent comprehensive survey of Eurasian otters in the Greater Bay Area has successfully documented otters’ occurrences in multiple locations—a promising sign for this endangered species.
