About the Event

Together with the Hong Kong Maritime and Port Board and the Hong Kong Shipowners Association, and funded by Maritime and Aviation Training Fund, the Hong Kong Maritime Museum is the co-organiser of the sixth Hong Kong Maritime Week. In partnership with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and InvestHK, a week of maritime activities will be held from 20 - 26 November 2022. Through the activities, we hope to unite and showcase the Hong Kong maritime industry as a strong cluster, raise the community’s awareness of the economic contributions of Hong Kong’s maritime and port industries, and promote Hong Kong as a preferred base for operating maritime business.

This project aims to raise public awareness of Hong Kong's maritime history, culture, and heritage by leveraging the learning resources housed within the Hong Kong Maritime Museum.

On 20 November 2022, we organize “Talk and Photo Presentation: Hong Kong Waters Through the Eyes of a Marine Police Officer” event on 20 November 2022 in Swire Marine Discovery Centre. Our special guest, Mr Les Bird, the former Marine Police Commander and memoirist, will host a talk to share his memories and stories about Hong Kong Waters since he began his career in 1976.

On 26 November 2022, the Hong Kong Maritime Museum offers free admission to the public. A series of family fun activities will be presented, including storytelling with Miss Snow, photobooth with the programme mascot Captain Shiba and Dr Dolphin, activity worksheets for children, souvenir etc. Educational activities such as docent tours, special exhibition and a tour on a tugboat will also be offered. Registration is required for some of the activities, please note in the details below.
