Not Too Good at Goodbyes: Movie Production and Creation of “Four Generations, Maritime Stories”

Language: Cantonese

Abstract:

Heiward Mak Hei-yan directed a five-part short film series for a special exhibition at the Hong Kong Maritime Museum. The series consists of Ciao, Crow's nest, Canal, Clutch and Choice.

The film series tells the story of separated lovers, interlinked with the story of Hong Kong's coast and harbour.

As times change, so do people's views on love and marriage. The choices they made to survive and live differ.

The heroine looks back on the experiences of her mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother while considering how she faces the present and makes choices that are very different from those of her predecessors.
