You are cordially invited to attend a special talk by internationally renowned China Trade Art scholar Dr Patrick Conner on 16 Mar (Sat) afternoon at the Hong Kong Maritime Museum. Participants include the Hong Kong Maritime Museum's staff, Directors, Trustees, Senior Advisers and Committee Members. Following the talk, tea and coffee will be served, giving you a chance to mingle with others in the HKMM Community.
Dr Conner is an internationally renowned scholar specialising in China trade and Chinese export paintings. HKMM has collected a notable array of Chinese export paintings, showcasing scenes of the early port of Hong Kong, ships, and landscapes. These art pieces not only serve as valuable historical records but are also evidence of those Chinese artists who made a specialty of painting in a style acceptable to Western buyers. Dr Conner has known the HKMM since its inception and will delve into the stories behind these artworks, providing fascinating insights into their significance in the talk.
