About the Event
Sponsored by Ocean Network Express (East Asia) Ltd., the Hong Kong Maritime Museum (HKMM) offers free admission and a series of activities will be offered for children and their families to enjoy and learn more about the industry and maritime history in Hong Kong.
Ocean Network Express (ONE) is one of the major container shipping companies in the world, offering an extensive service network that covers over 120 countries and beyond. Commenced its operation on 1 April 2018, ONE has established its global headquarter in Singapore and regional headquarters in Brazil, China (Hong Kong), Singapore, the United Kingdom and the United States. With the generous support of Ocean Network Express (East Asia) Ltd., the museum is able to offer free admission to children and their families to enjoy the special exhibition and explore maritime stories in Hong Kong and worldwide through educational and fun activities provided by ONE and the museum.
On 4-5 March, simulator is opened to the public. It allows visitors to steer a variety of ships including container barge, high-speed boat or even the famous historic Star Ferry, and learn the various roles of seafarers in the simulator to experience an immersive and authentic ‘sea journey’ through Hong Kong waters and the Victoria Harbour waterfront! On 4 March 2023, visitors can twist their own ocean-related balloons with balloon twisting competition champion Jacky Leung. On 5 March 2023, visitors can get their portraits drawn with special maritime elements by comic artist Aman and children and their families can join storyteller Miss Snow from Embrace Theatre HK on a guided tour for discovering the link between maritime history and daily life. All above activities are open to the public with registration.
Besides, visitors can play maritime quiz game and win souvenirs at ONE game booth while learning fun facts and knowledge about container vessel and maritime industry, and capture the joyful memories of the day at the photobooth.
Moreover, visitors can join freely in a myriad of family activities, including movies screening, guided tours led by docents around the museum, treasure hurt, etc. Furthermore, marine life talks are featured to share knowledge and experience about marine science, Hong Kong's maritime history, culture, and heritage.
