Ceramics, a great invention in ancient China, was a crowning achievenment culminating over the course of history from the concerted efforts and wisdom of the Chinese people, and was the Midas touch that has been a tremendous contribution to the human civilization. The Qing Imperial ware from the Kangxi, Yongzheng and Qianlong reigns was the crown jewel of Chinese ceramics. Ceramics came in various palettes ranging from underglaze blue, famille verte enamels, doucai, to polychrome glaze, all enjoying equal popularity. Famille rose ceramics, first introduced during the late Kangxi reign, further developed in the Yongzheng reign, and gradually perfected during the Qianlong reign, remained in vogue over the mid to late Qing periods for nearly two centuries...
