大会守则
(以下活动内容只有英文版本,不便之处,敬请见谅。)
All attendees are expected always to behave in a respectful and considerate way towards fellow attendees and host staff members by following this code of conduct.
Listening:
-
Please listen attentively to others’ presentations, allow space for others to ask questions, and be on time for all events!
Speaking:
-
Language: It is important to remember that not everyone speaks English as their first language, so please speak clearly and slowly when presenting your paper.
-
Assumed knowledge: Please recognise that the audience will be drawn from a variety of disciplines and backgrounds (e.g. museum, non-museum, academic). To make the Forum accessible to all, please don’t assume a level of knowledge of your subject and try not to use academic or technical language (or explain it, if you do).
-
Contested Histories: Please be aware that some historical subject material may include outdated views or distressing material e.g. relating to colonialism, racism, misogyny, or negative narratives relating to disability or LGBTQ+ histories. You are not asked to shy away from confronting these histories but should bear in mind that audience members and fellow speakers may find certain images, texts, and individual words relating to these subjects distressing. If your historical sources use offensive language, including racial slurs or outdated terminology, you should not speak these terms yourself nor should you display them on your presentation slides. This is especially important if you do not belong to the group originally targeted by this language.
-
Acceptable terminology: As delegates, please be aware that acceptable terminology varies between countries; for example, when referring to First Nations or indigenous peoples. Please be aware that presenters may use different terminology from which you are accustomed to (but should in all cases be respectful and appropriate).
-
Trigger Warnings: If you believe you are presenting a paper which addresses any distressing themes, please ensure that you make organisers aware in advance, and make the audience aware of this at the start of your presentation.
-
Answering questions: Please keep your answers brief during the Q&A sessions to maximise the number of questions and answers during the time period.
Questions:
-
As the Q&A sessions are short, please ensure that you ask a specific question rather than making a general comment to allow time for more questions and answers.
Behaviour towards each other:
-
Use of any discriminatory, threatening or otherwise inappropriate language or behaviour will not be tolerated. The organizers reserve the right to ask you to leave the Congress in cases of such behaviour.
-
If you experience any behaviour at Congress which makes you feel uncomfortable or has made the conference an unsafe space for any participants, please contact a member of the organising committee.
Final aim:
-
We want this to be an engaging, fun and stimulating Forum where you make new connections and gain inspiration from different perspectives and experiences. So, please make it a great experience for you and others.
