Hong Kong’s history is deeply intertwined with the sea.
Did you know that...
-
Over 200,000 vessels pass through our waters each year, making our port one of the busiest in the world?
-
Over 6,000 species of fish and an even greater number of coral reef species reside in Hong Kong, more than in the Caribbean?
Our unique position supports local ecosystems, provides livelihoods through fishing and tourism, and contributes to our cultural heritage and identity.
As an independent non-profit cultural institution, we rely on your support to enhance our marine conservation education programs. Your contributions help us raise awareness about these precious resources and the need to protect them, ensuring that future generations understand and cherish our maritime history.
If you believe in the mission of the Hong Kong Maritime Museum and the future of our Blue Ocean, please consider donating. Together, we can create meaningful educational experiences that resonate for generations. Every contribution makes a difference!
About HKMM
The Hong Kong Maritime Museum is a vibrant, cultural institution dedicated to preserving, collecting and displaying objects that tell the story about trade and maritime in Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta. A non-profit registered charity founded in 2003 by members of the Hong Kong Shipowners Association, the Museum opened in September 2005 at Murray House in Stanley and relocated in 2013 to Pier 8, in the heart of the Central Harbour Waterfront.
Today the Museum attracts 100,000 visitors annually where across 4,600 square metres more than 1,100 objects are displayed in 13 galleries on three levels. All of which uniquely overlooks a bustling Victoria Harbour.
As an independent non-profit cultural institution, we continue to rely on your support. We continue to educate, entertain, and inform via new initiatives. Yet, there are limitations to what the HKMM can do on its own.
If you believe in HKMM’s good causes and the conservation of the Blue Ocean, please consider donating. Join us in becoming a part of our impactful future activities and help us build a legacy, every little bit helps!
