Billy Tang, Chairman, Society of Hong Kong History
In collaboration with the Society of Hong Kong History
Once many people made a living from fishing in Hong Kong. However, the work was very dangerous and insecure, because of the threat of storms and also the risk that the catch might fail. Religion was therefore very important in helping fishermen to overcome these threats to their livelihood.
In this talk, Billy will talk about the taboos and different religious beliefs of the fishermen and gods such as Tin Hau and Pak Tai.
