Dr Poon Sun Wah
Adjunct Professor, Department of Real Estate and Construction, The University of Hong Kong
In 1888, the British Foreign Minister in Peking was informed that the Chinese Foreign Office had authorised the construction of a lighthouse on the Gap Rock Island. The construction work was carried out by a Hong Kong contractor and funded partly by the Qing Government for the capital cost. The lighthouse administered by the Hong Kong Colonial Government until early 1950s.
In this talk Dr Poon will present his finding on the history, design, construction and maintenance at the Gap Rock Lighthouse.
