The Present Archival Landscape
The “Archival Landscape” of Hong Kong is dominated by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (LCSD), a body that runs the Hong Kong Museum of History (HKMH), the Hong Kong Museum of Coastal Defence, the Lei Cheng Uk Han Tomb Museum, the Law Uk Folk Museum, the DrSun Yat-sen Museum and the Fireboat Alexander Grantham Exhibition Gallery. With the exception of the last institution all of the others are focused on terrestrial history. The main repository is with the HKMH at Chatham Road. Its focus has been on collecting by public donation, with some (limited and targeted) purchases.
